Begun with mariners’ donations from India in the early years of the museum’s operation, the Indian collection includes important sculpture, textiles, ceramics, and metalwork. The Himalayan collection contains the nation’s foremost collection of nineteenth- and twentieth-century Bhutanese textile arts as well as important Tibetan and Nepalese works.
