PEM’s Summer Block Party is back and better than ever!
With a larger music lineup, more food trucks and an even bigger beer garden, this is one you definitely do not want to miss. When we organized the first Block Party back in 2017, I never thought the event would grow the way that it has, becoming a free summer favorite for locals and tourists alike.
We are switching up the location for 2019 and bringing the party even closer to the museum. With a change in location, it seemed like a great opportunity to spice up the musical offerings too.
We’ve been lucky to collaborate with Oompa on past programs, such as the rap showcase during our Lady Power after hours party and the “From the Tape Deck” showcase last December. She will be hosting the main stage and has curated a really incredible lineup of musical talent ranging from folk, soul and funk to R&B, hip-hop and punk.
We’ve also increased our food offerings for 2019! We are excited to welcome back A&B Burgers and Melt Ice Cream for the third year in a row, and are adding Crepe du Jour to the local lineup. 3rd Alarm Wood Fired Pizza is back from last year, and we’ve also added Cravin’ Shallot, Melt Food Truck, Whoo(pie) Wagon and Zaaki Food Truck.
While you’re here, check out more in the museum, which will be open from 6 to 10 pm. Exhibitions include the recently opened exhibition, featuring a Boston-based photographer, Order of Imagination: The Photographs of Olivia Parker. In addition to classic New England furniture, A Passion for American Art: Selections from the Carolyn and Peter Lynch Collection includes significant works by Georgia O’Keeffe, Winslow Homer and John Singer Sargent.
What started as a one-time, free outdoor party to celebrate our historic houses, has morphed into a giant community party, featuring local creatives, makers, businesses, musical talent and more. Special shout out to Creative Collective for collaborating with us on the event last year and this year, bringing an incredible vendor fair featuring a lot of awesome local talent. It’s been amazing to watch the event grow from 1,000 attendees in 2017 to over 4,000 in 2018, and I’m eager to see how many people will attend the event this year.
Join us and mingle with our new director Brian Kennedy who has the Irish gift of gab and wants to meet you and learn more about the local community.
See you on the block!
