In celebration of the Peabody Essex Museum's stunning Studio Glass collection, join us for a flameworking workshop that blends art history and hands-on creativity.

The workshop begins with a gallery talk led by Sarah Chasse, Curator-at-Large, who will provide insights into the significance and artistry of the Studio Glass collection. Featuring works by more than 40 influential glass artists from the 20th century to today, the collection is renowned for its variety in form, scale and technique, offering a breathtaking display of contemporary glass art. Following the gallery tour, participants will drive to North Shore Glass School for a hands-on flameworking experience.

Follow step-by-step instructions to create your own flameworked glass pendant. Learn how to melt glass rods, shape your creation and incorporate vibrant colors. Throughout the process, the instructor will provide personalized feedback and support, ensuring that everyone feels confident and inspired as they bring their artistic visions to life.

PEM’s Creative Foundations classes (for ages 18 and up) aim to engage both complete beginners and lifelong learners looking to deepen their artistic knowledge. These classes connect participants with PEM’s collection and exhibitions and are led by guest artists and PEM curators.
