Explore the flavors of Ethiopia and learn about the importance of coffee in Ethiopian culture as we near the closing of Ethiopia at the Crossroads. Experience an authentic coffee ceremony facilitated by Mahelet Kassa (she/her) of Zoma Coffee Roaster. See traditional Ethiopian coffee tools like the jebena (coffee pot) and rekbot (tray) in action and enjoy the fresh roasted aromas wafting through our Main Atrium before you have the chance to taste and socialize.

The Ethiopia at the Crossroads exhibition is open 10 am–5 pm for self-guided exploration.

This program is generously supported by the Lowell Institute.

      Mahelet Kassa

Mahelet Kassa is a software engineer and the founder of Zoma Coffee Roaster. In 2023, she took a leap of faith and launched her coffee company, “driven by my passion for creating spaces where people can authentically connect over a shared love for coffee…I believe in the power of coffee to bring people together, bridging cultures and fostering meaningful interactions,” Kassa says.

“When I’m not working, I love to indulge in life’s simple pleasures. Whether I’m out for a refreshing jog, diving into a captivating book or scaling new heights on a climbing adventure, these are the moments where I truly unwind and recharge. They keep me grounded and energized.”
