      Eagle Shadow Puppet

Create your own eagle shadow puppet to celebrate the Fourth of July. The bald eagle serves as an emblem of the U.S. The bald eagle was critically endangered during the late 1970s until as recently as 2007. This activity helps commemorate the eagle.

      Supplies
      • Eagle template
      • Thick paper
      • A pencil
      • Scissors or exacto knife (with help from a grown up)
      • Flashlight
      Instructions

Step 1: Print the template onto a thick piece of paper.

Step 2: Cut out the overall silhouette shape of the bird head.

Step 3: Take your scissors and cut along the dotted lines. Carefully cut out the bold shapes and remove them from your stencil. After each shape is cut out, put a small piece of tape over where you cut the dotted line. This is to stabilize the paper.

Step 4: Repeat Step 3 until all the pieces are cut out.

Step 5: With a flashlight, find a dark corner of your house. Shine it through the puppet, and watch as the eagle finds its way onto your wall!
