      PEM in an Hour

      Enjoy our self-guided audio tour

Learn about the history of PEM and the fascinating city of Salem on this self-guided audio tour of our remarkable collection. PEM has an origin story like no other, and a collection of diverse and fascinating works of art, culture and science that help tell the story of the oldest continuously operating museum in the country.

Let Lynda Roscoe Hartigan, PEM’s Rose-Marie and Eijk van Otterloo Executive Director and CEO, be your guide as you get to know 21 objects throughout the museum. The tour is also available in Spanish with Rosario Ubiera-Minaya, Executive Director of Raw Art Works in Lynn. Get a behind-the-scenes perspective on the museum’s storied collection and gain a new understanding on everything from Chippendale furniture to contemporary Indian painting.

The tour takes approximately an hour and is included with admission.

Please note: A Wi-Fi enabled device is needed and the use of earbuds or headphones is recommended. Some featured material may not be appropriate for younger audiences. This tour covers all three levels of the museum and requires the use of an elevator or stairs.

PEM in an Hour is generously supported by the George S. Parker Fund.
